Tempura of seasonal seafood and Kyoto vegetables

We carefully fry seasonal seafood and Kyoto vegetables, drawing on many years of experience.

Drawing on many years of experience, we value above all bringing out the natural flavor, aroma and color of each ingredient.

One piece at a time, in front of you

Each piece is fried to match the pace of your meal and served as soon as it leaves the oil.

Seasonal Kyoto vegetables

Each season, we carefully select the Kyoto vegetables best suited to tempura.

Sakizuke and mukozuke

The sakizuke and mukozuke, small dishes served before the tempura, are also made with good seasonal ingredients, each plate prepared with care.

A message from the chef

Thanks to a fortunate connection, I am opening a restaurant in Goshominami.

Your time with us is precious. Entrusted with that time, I have chosen to offer just 10 seats, all at the counter, so that I can attend to each and every guest.

If you come to think of Tempura Kokyu as an enjoyable place to be, nothing would make me happier.

I look forward to welcoming you.

Where does the name Kokyu come from?

The name Kokyu (幸久) was given to us by the head priest of Rakugaki-dera, a temple in Yawata, Kyoto Prefecture. It can also be read as koku, the depth of flavor that matters so much in cooking, and it expresses the wish to bring our guests happiness for many years and for the restaurant to flourish for many years.
